Welcome to Imaginal - it’s a bit of an adventure, really. I’ve been exploring some new territory with these paintings. Picture this: surreal, timeless scenes of an imaginary place that feels a bit like Morocco with a splash of Palm Springs. Mysterious female figures move in and out of scene.
It launches 1 June at 8pm, but if you'd like early access to purchase from this series, sign up to my newsletter here.
So, why ‘Imaginal’, you ask? Well, it’s all about the power of imagination. An imaginal realm is made of potential - a place that doesn’t yet exist other than in our minds. Like the dream of a caterpillar about to transform into a butterfly. I’ve created these to imagine the world from a different angle. It’s a fresh start, a first-time experience, something unique and special.
There’s also something quite unique about how I created them: I’ve been collaborating with artificial intelligence on this project. Now, don’t worry, it’s not as high tech as it sounds. And all of these paintings are created by my trusty old brushes in my own hands. It’s like having a new tool in my art kit. I used AI in helping me create reference scenes that I would not have been able to dream up alone. I know AI can seem a bit daunting, especially in creative fields. But I’m aiming to work out how to work with it, not against it. And without it, these specific artworks would not exist.
So, with the ‘Imaginal’ series, I invite you to come along for the ride. See the world through a blend of imagination, brushstrokes, and a dash of AI. Trust me, it’s a journey worth taking!
